Recommended Equipment Bags

There is a lot of equipment needed for any video shoot.  Transporting all that gear separately can be a strenuous task.  Luckily, that is not necessary with a good equipment bag.  All the small pieces of equipment that you need for a deposition video can fit in one of these bags and remedy a headache-inducing multi-trip unloading and setup process.  Equipment bags need to be able to protect your gear as well.

There are a few things to keep in mind when choosing a bag to transport your gear.

  • Protection – padding all around the main body of the bag
  • Separation – internal walls to store multiple items without any collision between items
  • Portability – size and weight limitations and layout of straps

There are a few options I recommend that cover all these bases, and here they are.

Option 1 – Neewer Camera Case w/ tripod holder

The Neewer Camera Case (link to price on Amazon) is a good equipment bag to transport your gear safely and efficiently to your deposition video shoots.  It checks all the boxes in terms of protection and separation with all of the external and internal padding.  The backpack straps make this bag easy to carry while leaving your hands free to grab anything else you need to bring with you.

This bag has great functionality with the ability to carry your tripod on the side, freeing up your hand to carry one more item in one trip.

Option 2 – Estarer Camera Backpack

This Estarer Camera Backpack (link to price on Amazon) is a bit bigger than the first option, but it sacrifices the tripod strap for the extra space.  If you carry more than just a few lenses with your camera, such as chargers, extra batteries, or small LED lights, this backpack will fit all your gear easily.

The dividers inside are well padded to make sure all your small equipment stays safe in transport.  The materials used in this bag are a bit higher quality than the first option, but I still find myself missing the tripod strap from the first option.

This may not concern you if what you are looking for are better padding and higher quality fabric.  This bag is a great option for anyone looking for durability and more space inside.

Option 3 – Tarion Camera Backpack

The Tarion Camera Backpack (link to price on Amazon) is by far the most stylish option on this list.  It looks like a regular canvas backpack, but it has the padded dividers inside the bottom compartment to keep your camera, lenses, and other small equipment safe and secure.  The top compartment is more open with a drawstring around the rim for those less breakable items, such as cords, extra batteries, and SD card sleeves.

If you are looking for a fashionable option to show off your style instead of having a plain black bag just like everyone else, this option is for you.  You sacrifice a bit of functionality to get that style, but the space in the bag is functional in its own way.
