If the setting for your deposition video is too busy and distracting, adding a backdrop behind the subject can help direct focus. If the shot is in the middle of a larger space, the backdrop can give the illusion of a wall behind the subject.
Backdrops are fairly cut and dry in regards to specs, so most of the ones you can find on Amazon will work for the purpose of filming a deposition video. There are a few things to keep in mind when selecting a backdrop.
Here are a few options that will cover all your backdrop needs.
The Fovitec StudioPRO Collapsible Backdrop (link to price on Amazon) is a great option for under $100. The design on the fabric is a gray tye-dye kind of look that can be found on both sides. Being 5 feet wide and 6.5 feet tall, the dimensions give this backdrop all the coverage you will need for any medium distance shot.
The gray design on this backdrop is very simple and not distracting for the viewer. Both sides have slightly different textures just in case something could clash with one design.
Lastolite’s Reversible Backdrop (link to price on Amazon) boasts a double-sided fabric with two different colored designs. On one side, there is a gray tye-dye pattern. The other side has a tan tye-dye design. The fabric is very smooth and durable with a slipcover to store the collapsed backdrop.
With dimensions of 5 feet by 6 feet, this backdrop with stretch across the back of your shot perfectly. One thing to keep in mind about this backdrop is finding a way to keep it standing upright. With a straight stand and a clamp, you can remedy that very easily.
The Kate Collapsible Microfiber Backdrop (link to price on Amazon), like the option above, offers two different designs, one on either side of the fabric. The color scheme is gray and blue on this option. The microfiber fabric is very high quality and gives a deep texture to the pattern.
At 5 feet by 6.5 feet, this backdrop will be the perfect size to cover the background in your deposition videos. Just like the second option, this backdrop cannot free-stand and needs to be mounted on a straight stand with a clamp or two.
